BH Airport is recognized as an ESG Highlight in the O Equilibrista award, from IBEF-MG

BH Airport has just received the “O Equilibrista” award from the Brazilian Institute of Finance Executives (IBEF-MG). The international terminal in Minas Gerais was recognized as an ESG Highlight Company 2024 for its 400HZ + PCA project, which replaces the use of fossil fuels with renewable energy during aircraft ground support activities. The award ceremony took place this Thursday (12/5) in Belo Horizonte, and the award was received by BH Airport CEO Daniel Miranda.

This is the 39th edition of the award, which annually recognizes outstanding finance executives in Minas Gerais. In addition, through its IBEF-VERDE project, the institution selects the company with outstanding initiatives in the ESG area. The BH Airport project was chosen by a panel of judges for its relevance and impact, as well as for its alignment with the purposes of the airport, which is currently the only carbon neutral airport in Brazil and has been considered by Anac, for two consecutive years, as the most sustainable airport in Brazil.

BH Airport CEO Daniel Miranda celebrates the award and highlights the 400HZ + PCA as an example of convergence between sustainability and operational efficiency. “This project represents a milestone in the transition from kerosene and diesel to electricity for the supply of aircraft parked at our airport. In addition to significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, it promotes financial efficiency, with a cost reduction of up to 40% for airlines. It is an honor to receive recognition from IBEF-MG for this initiative, which reinforces our commitment to sustainable development and shows how ESG can be a driver of innovation and progress, not only environmentally, but also economically,” he says.

BH Airport celebrates Mining Day with emphasis on growth and support for the production chain

BH Airport celebrates Mining Day with emphasis on growth and support for the production chain

On May 7, the date on which Mining Day is celebrated, BH Airport celebrates its connection with one of the most important and traditional sectors of the Minas Gerais economy. The birthplace of mining in the country, Minas Gerais is home to large operations in the sector and requires a robust transportation and logistics structure. In this context, the international terminal in Minas Gerais stands out, playing a fundamental role in the industry's supply chain.

Specialized in receiving, unsealing, storing and nationalizing cargo, the BH Airport Multimodal Logistics Hub has infrastructure and services prepared for the demands of the sector. In 2024, more than 2.2 million kilos of mining-related cargo were handled at the terminal, in 4,136 logistics processes, which represents a 50% growth compared to 2023.

The products transported range from small parts, such as screws, pistons and rods for rock drills, to large machinery, used in surface and underground mining operations, which can reach 75 tons.

The main countries of origin for these cargoes are the United States, Ireland and Sweden, and the materials are transported by different modes to regions with strong mining activity. Although maritime transport is the most widely used by the sector, BH Airport offers integrated solutions that connect air, road and sea transport, with attention to the specific demands of each client. The result is a robust logistics operation, aligned with the requirements of modern mining.

The Commercial Manager of BH Airport, Geovane Medina, highlights that the presence of the Hub as a specialized logistics structure contributes to the strengthening of the mining chain in the state. “BH Airport is a logistics hub with mining DNA. Our proximity to the main mining hubs, combined with our infrastructure and specialized team, allows us to be a strategic partner for the development of the sector and, consequently, for the economy of the state and the country”, he states.

The Multimodal Logistics Hub at BH Airport is the only customs area in Minas Gerais with 24-hour inspection. There are 12,000 m² of customs area, 300 m² of dangerous cargo warehouse; 3,131 m² of cold rooms with customized setup from -18°C to +22°C and thermal qualification; and 11 parking positions for cargo aircraft.

BH Airport VIP Lounge, Advantage VIP Lounge, is voted the best in the world by Priority Pass

The first fast-track VIP lounge at BH Airport, the Advantage VIP Lounge, has just been voted the best in the world by Priority Pass, the largest global airport program. This is the first time in history that a Brazilian lounge has won the top prize, announced this Wednesday (30) during the “Priority Pass Excellence Awards”. The vote is based on the opinions of thousands of travelers who access more than 1,500 accredited spaces around the world and evaluate based on criteria such as service, comfort, structure, amenities and buffet.

Inaugurated in August of last year, Advantage has been attracting the attention of passengers at the Minas Gerais international terminal, whether for its size – almost 1,000 square meters -, the beauty of its areas, with a highlight being a replica of the façade of the Pampulha church, or the convenience of its services, which include its own inspection channel, which gives access to the boarding area. BH Airport CEO Daniel Miranda celebrates the achievement: “Advantage is a success in our terminal and offers comfort and sophistication in the Minas Gerais way: with good food and excellent hospitality. We are very happy with this well-deserved award, which also projects BH Airport as the airport with the best VIP lounge in the world”, he says.

Advantage VIP Lounge CEO Rute Woitechen highlights that the award is the realization of a dream that began in 2015, when she founded Advantage. “Our purpose is to transform the concept of VIP lounges in Brazilian airports and to see this work recognized globally, precisely in the year in which we celebrate 10 years, is exciting. This award belongs to each employee, who dedicates themselves every day with excellence and care, and also to our customers, who trusted our proposal and elected us. Today, with great joy, we celebrate this milestone together: Advantage is the best in the world”, she highlights. Experience at Advantage

The lounge is the largest Advantage lounge in airports in Brazil and one of the first in the country with exclusive access to boarding. With capacity to receive up to 236 customers simultaneously, 24 hours a day, the space has workstations with high-speed Wi-Fi, rest areas, food, children's entertainment, and bathrooms equipped with showers.

The space's decor is also inviting, with a panoramic view of the runway and an architectural concept inspired by Minas Gerais. In addition, the space is equipped with technological and sustainable devices, including smart LED lighting, stable Wi-Fi connectivity, integrated chargers, digital information panels, automated temperature control, and ambient sound systems.

Advantage has two entrances: one through the public area, on the 2nd floor of the terminal, next to the panoramic terrace, with exclusive and faster access for customers, and another through the boarding area, near gate 2. Access follows the model of partnerships with the Lounge Key and Priority Pass programs, in addition to individual payment options for stays of up to three hours.

BH Airport encerra 1º trimestre com recorde em movimentação de passageiros e carga

The year 2025 started off on an optimistic note at BH Airport: whether passengers or cargo, the terminal saw historic movements in the first quarter of the year, consolidating its ability to overcome the difficult period of the pandemic. In January, February and March 2025, 3.1 million passengers circulated through BH Airport, representing an 18% increase compared to the same period last year. This result stands out in the national scenario: considering the comparison of the first quarter of 2025 with 2024, the sector in Minas Gerais grew twice as much as the market average in other states (8%). In total, there were 28,070 landings and takeoffs in these first three months, a 15% increase over 2024.

BH Airport COO Rodrigo Côrtes points out that the recovery from the pandemic was slow and that the results from the period before Covid-19 were only surpassed last year. Now, the expectation is to grow in line with GDP. “It is a joy to see our airport getting busier and busier. When comparing this first quarter with the same period in 2019, growth in Minas Gerais is up to 9 times higher than the average for other airports in the country. And this is due both to the recovery of the sector and to our work, whether in attracting new destinations, investing in infrastructure and improving the customer experience, which attracts more and more travelers to BH Airport,” he says.

Carnival was one of the busiest periods, when around 257 thousand passengers circulated through the Minas Gerais international terminal between February 27 and March 6. It was the busiest period in the airport's history. The number is also 26% higher than that recorded for the same holiday in 2024. To welcome these passengers and make their experience more fun and safe, BH Airport carried out several welcome and awareness-raising actions, such as distributing carnival props, surprise activations on the baggage carousels, an Instagrammable panel and musical and dance performances.

A new route was also announced in the first quarter: BH – Bariloche. Operated by Azul Linhas Aéreas with Airbus A320 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 174 passengers, tickets for these flights have been on sale since February. In total, there will be 34 operations, with departures from Belo Horizonte on Wednesdays and Sundays, during the season from June to August.

Cargo

Specialized in receiving, unsealing, storing and nationalizing cargo, the BH Airport Multimodal Logistics Hub also closed the first quarter of 2025 with growth. During this period, the terminal received more than 7,000 cargo import and export operations, a 22% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

In addition, the value of imported cargo also increased significantly. If in the first quarter of 2024 they represented approximately R$2.7 billion, in the first three months of 2025 this value rose to R$4.3 billion, a jump of 62%, which highlights the terminal's potential for handling high added value cargo.

BH Airport's Commercial Manager, Geovane Medina, celebrates the result. "We started 2025 with very impressive results with high added value cargo, consolidating the efficiency of our operational model and other differentials of our hub, such as strategic location, negotiation conditions and close service. In addition, other macroeconomic factors contributed to this result, such as the rise of the dollar. We are optimistic about the coming months: we have just launched several logistics products that meet the demands and profiles of different importing companies. In this way, we efficiently serve our customers and contribute to the local economy, generating jobs and income", he says.

Among the products launched by the hub in this first quarter is the first road route to the international market, directly connecting South America to Brazil. Importing companies will be able to count on this new route for moving cargo with exclusive conditions, competitive rates and personalized negotiations.

Another new feature is the new land route that picks up cargo arriving at Galeão Airport (GIG) and brings it to the international terminal in Minas Gerais. This operation takes place via consolidated removal, with road transport between customs areas, without the cargo starting the nationalization process. Customs clearance only takes place when the cargo arrives at BH Airport, which offers attractive rates to companies and importers from Minas Gerais.

The BH Multimodal Logistics Hub is the only customs area in Minas Gerais with 24-hour inspection. It has 12,000 m² of customs area, 300 m² of dangerous cargo warehouse; 3,131 m² of cold rooms with customized setup from -18°C to +22°C and thermal qualification; and 11 parking spaces for cargo aircraft. The terminal receives cargo from several countries around the world, and the most representative countries of origin include the United States, China, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France. The sectors with the highest demand include Life Sciences, with cargo such as vaccines and medicines, Mining and Automotive. In 2024, the terminal received more than 30,000 cargo import operations, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year.

BH Airport's new logistics solutions attract attention at Intermodal 2025

Three days of great connections and business development. This was the participation of BH Airport in Intermodal South America 2025, the largest logistics event in the Americas, which took place from April 22 to 24, in the Anhebi District, in São Paulo. The Multimodal Logistics Hub of the Minas Gerais international terminal was present with a stand that caught the attention of participants and the launch of logistics solutions for receiving, unsealing, storing and nationalizing cargo.

The connections made during the fair generated more than 30 pre-scheduled meetings, which could result in business with the movement of more than 500 tons of cargo and R$5.3 million in revenue over the next 12 months. BH Airport's Commercial Manager, Geovane Medina, highlights the fair's potential for the projection of the Multimodal Logistics Hub. “Intermodal is the largest and most comprehensive logistics solutions event in the Americas, and participating in this event is essential for us to keep up with the trends, technologies, and innovations in the sector. In addition, we had excellent opportunities to promote our services, with a focus on the automotive, mining, pharmaceutical, and technology sectors. During the three days of the fair, we presented efficient and innovative solutions that optimize our clients’ logistics chains, generating more business, jobs, and income for Minas Gerais and Brazil,” he says.
